Thierry Ernst has been working at Mines ParisTech since 2011 as project manager for communications in cooperative intelligent transport systems (Cooperative ITS).
He was awarded his PhD in 2001 and his work on IPv6 mobility provided the basis for the NEMO (Network Mobility) research theme. Thierry held a 4-year research position at Japan’s Keio University, where he chaired the Nautilus6 working group and also the NEMO and MonAmi6 working groups within IETF (organization for the standardization of internet protocols). He subsequently worked for the INRIA from 2006 to 2010, where he led the IMARA team (JRU LaRA www.lara.prd.fr in association with Mines ParisTech) which studied the application of IPv6 mobility to Cooperative ITS.
He has also worked on standardization as part of ETSI and at ISO (TC204) and CEN (TC278) and was the French expert certified by AFNOR. He has been involved in a number of French (ANR MobiSeND, FUI PUMAS) and European projects (Anemone, CVIS, SANDRA), and was the technical leader of GeoNet (IPv6 GeoNetworking).

He is also active in the DriveC2X joint European project and is coordinator of the European ITSSv6 project (www.itssv6.org), which sets out to provide an IPv6 communication platform for Cooperative ITS. Thierry is also involved in promoting IPv6 and is the leader of the "IPv6 Promotion" working group (previously called TFF-IPv6 Task Force France) within G6 (www.g6.asso.fr), which aims to inform stakeholders in the French digital society as to the impact of the deployment of IPv6, regardless of the sector.
